Johann Chua, Jefrey Roda and Michael Baoanan made their way to the round-of-16 of the US Open Pool Championship after winning their respective matches in the knockout stage in Atlantic City, New Jersey.
Chua edged Germany’s Thorsten Hohmann, 10-9, before beating Greece’s Alexander Kazakis, 10-6, to keep his chances of winning one of the biggest 9-ball events of the professional pool circuit.

The three are the only Filipino cue artists left in the field after 2021 winner Carlo Biado and seven others were eliminated.
Biado was shown the door by Estonia’s Denis Grabe, 10-3, in the round-of-64, where Roberto Gomez, Harry Vergara, Lee Van Corteza, Bernie Regalario and Marvin Asis were booted out.
Baseth Mocaibat, meanwhile, lost to Austria’s Albin Ouschan in the round-of-32.
