MANILA, Philippines—Ginebra coach Tim Cone has been vocal about his disinterest in the PBA’s four-point line.

But that doesn’t mean the Gin Kings aren’t using it to their advantage.

“It’s not one of the things that we really like to incorporate on our offense,” said Ginebra guard Maverick Ahanmisi after their win over TNT in Game 4 of the PBA Governors’ Cup Finals on Sunday.

“We don’t take too many four-point shots but since it’s incorporated, it’s something we have to work on. We take shots that are given to us.”

The four-point shot was one of Ginebra’s weapons in its 106-92 victory that knotted the finals at 2-2.

Ahanmisi, who finished with 18 points and eight rebounds, even hit the biggest four-pointer of the game in the fourth quarter which ultimately put the game beyond reach.

“I can shoot those, It’s not something that’s within our system really but when it’s open, coach always tells us to take what the defense is giving you and at that moment, they left me open.”

“I honestly didn’t realize it was a four-pointer, ’til I let it go.”

Justin Brownlee led the Gin Kings with 34 points, highlighted by a pair of makes behind the 27-foot arc.

Ginebra aims to make it three in a row against TNT on Wednesday.
