Jema Galanza acknowledges that there may have been a dip in her performance with Creamline in the past few games of the PVL All-Filipino Conference.

The multititled hitter dropped hints of some personal struggle but none of that is affecting her desire to figure things out and eventually bring her old form back.

“I just need to bring myself back up because I have not been playing my game the past few games,” Galanza said after leading the Cool Smashers to a ninth straight victory here with a 25-15, 25-19, 27-25 victory against Farm Fresh on Tuesday night.

“The [right] mindset [will help] because that will toughen you on the court so you can be much relaxed and think better,” she added.

Galanza, who won her first Finals MVP plum in the last edition of the conference, has been the primary weapon for Creamline after leading the team’s scorers in the first three games.

She still contributed efficient numbers in the next two wins before an obvious drop in her scoring and in the last three games before the duel against Foxies, finished with only single-digit outputs. Thankfully there is no shortage of firepower as her teammates are always ready to pick up the slack.

“The struggles I am having is the way for me to see what else I need to improve,” Galanza said after punching in 15 points against Farm Fresh, Creamline’s 19th straight win since losing to Petro Gazz in the Reinforced Conference last year.

Own enemy

“I am not the only one who has struggles, but also the team, which is going through a lot. These things that we are going through right now, these will help us to rise and see what else we need to correct,” she added.

But with the blistering run, it would be easy to think that Creamline has it all figured out. The thing is, the 10-time champions just know to stick by what has been consistently working for them time and time again.

“We always just stick to training, wake up early, go to court and then the coaches just work on who our next opponent will be,” she said. “It’s just that when your enemy is yourself, it’s a bit more difficult so we work on that and fight the negative thoughts.

“What I am feeling right now will only strengthen me and I just hope that when I am needed, I will be able to deliver.”
