MANILA, Philippines—PBA player Fran Yu made headlines Tuesday after being involved in an altercation with a barangay councilor (kagawad) over a parking violation at Barangay 350 in Sta. Cruz, Manila.
According to a report from ABS CBN News, Yu was accused of pushing the barangay councilor, who sustained facial injuries after falling into a gutter amid a heated argument.

The NorthPort Batang Pier guard denied the accusations, claiming the barangay councilor lost his balance and fell on his own.

Akala nung kagawad, tinulak ko,” Yu explained in the report.
In a CCTV footage, the two are seen talking to each other before the barangay councilor seemed to have lost his balance and fell into the gutter.

The incident began when the barangay councilor approached Yu, who allegedly parked his motorcycle illegally in front of a fastfood chain.

Yu is the latest member of the Batang Pier to be involved in a non-PBA related controversy after John Amores and team governor Erick Arejola.
Amores was involved in a shooting incident last September in Laguna while Arejola found himself in hot water after his involvement in a high school basketball game brawl.
NorthPort is currently gearing up its upcoming PBA Commissioner’s Cup semifinals series with Barangay Ginebra, which tips off February 26.
