NorthPort put the brooms out of the way and prevented Barangay Ginebra from marching into the Finals with a 108-103 victory Wednesday in Game 4 of the PBA Commissioner’s Cup at Smart Araneta Coliseum.
Import Kadeem Jack had another strong showing, but this time got plenty of help as the Batang Pier stopped the crowd-favorite Gin Kings from completing a sweep of the series that was one-sided in the previous three matches.

Arvin Tolentino fell short of a triple-double, William Navarro and Joshua Munzon also stepped up while Paolo Taha made the most of his role as a starter to key NorthPort’s win.
Jack finished with 39 points, 15 rebounds and five assists while Tolentino had 20 points, nine rebounds and 11 assists after struggling earlier in the series.

Navarro scored 16 on top of five rebounds and three assists, Munzon tallied 14 points and five assists even as Taha scored 11 for NorthPort.

Ginebra is still up 3-1, but NorthPort is aiming to put pressure on the Gin Kings in Game 5 set Friday, still at the Big Dome.
The Gin Kings actually had a chance to tie it up after trailing by 11 in the fourth, but Stephen Holt missed a three-pointer with the Batang Pier ahead, 106-103, before Tolentino knocked two freethrows that served as insurance.
Justin Brownlee registered 18 points, seven rebounds and four assists for Ginebra in the defeat.
