MANILA, Philippines—Rain or Shine import Deon Thompson had some high praises for the local Elasto Painters after their exit in the PBA Commissioner’s Cup.

Naturally, Rain or Shine will now have to move on without Deon Thompson for the upcoming Philippine Cup but the American-Ivorian import won’t be leaving the squad without some added fuel.
“I think they’ll be great. They have speed and they are talented,” said Thompson with Inquirer Sports after the 97-92 loss at the hands of TNT in Game 5 of the semifinals at Araneta Coliseum on Friday.

“I think they played great and I think they’ll show that in the all Filipino conference. Next time they face TNT, I’m sure they’ll beat them.”
Thompson’s curtain call with the Elasto Painters—for this conference, at least—was an eventful one as he finished with 34 points, six rebounds and three blocks.
However, his efforts weren’t enough as Rain or Shine was given the boot after five games against the Tropang Giga, 1-4.

Still, his words rang true as the locals did their thing, with Adrian Nocum headlining the attack with an all-around game of 13 points, seven assists and six rebounds.
Andrei Caracut added with 10 to his name while Caelan Tiongson scored eight in the loss.
Thompson also expressed his confidence for the Elasto Painters despite another tough loss in the playoffs.
“Moments like these, these semifinals losses will only continue to build character and give the guys the experiences they need to get over the hump.”
