CAINTA, Rizal — Mahleen Membrido of USBC won the Ladies’ Masters title in the 9th GMTBC ICS/Kwikprint Open Championship held Sunday at the Sta. Lucia East Bowling Center here.
Membrido started slow with a 125 scratch score in the first of the 7-game finals but rolled a 245 in the third game to propel her to the lead position. She finished the series strong with a 214 game, posting a total score of 1377 to bag the title.
Liza Zapanta of Sletba-GMTBC finished 1st runnerup with 1362, followed by Rica Ventura of PBA, 1336; Daphne Custodio of Sletba, 1332, and Tintin Robles of PTBA-Henrich, 1317.
In the Men’s Senior finals on Saturday, Ben Williams of ACTBA led all the way to capture the crown.
Williams kept his poise and composure as he dodged the challenges posed by his rivals in the 8-game finals.
Williams posted a total of 1783, followed by Joel Guevarra of PBA with 1730, Eljeor Saddoy of DATBI with 1690, Charles Calamba of Sletba-GMTBC with 1675, and Jun Monakil of Sletba, 1659.
The other finalists put up a tough fight for a spot in the 2nd to 5th place, with changes taking place after every game. But none of them ever came close to dislodging Williams from the top spot.
