MANILA, Philippines — Alyssa Solomon has withdrawn from the 2025 Korean Volleyball Federation (KOVO) Asian Quota Draft for the next V-League Season due to a long-standing UAAP’s rule regarding amateurism.
Sources privy to the situation revealed to Inquirer Sports that Solomon decided to pull out of the Asian Quota Draft after she was informed of the UAAP rules that have been in place for 10 years.

Solomon’s situation is a first in the UAAP volleyball since KOVO is just in its third season of drafting Asian imports. Basketball student-athletes in the UAAP only declare their intent to join the pros after their tournament.
The Premier Volleyball League is holding its rookie draft after the collegiate volleyball season.

Another source, who requested anonymity, bared that Solomon was given three days to respond after she was informed on Wednesday of the possible repercussions and remedies prior to National University’s game against Adamson University.
The reigning UAAP Finals MVP still played on Wednesday, pouring in 23 points to send the Lady Bulldogs to a 6-0 record after dominating the Lady Falcons, 25-21, 25-23, 25-18, at Mall of Asia Arena.

Solomon, the source said, decided to withdraw and focus on the Lady Bulldogs’ title-retention campaign.
No games of NU will be affected as Solomon is no longer part of the final list of participants for the said draft. The KOVO Draft is scheduled to take place on April 11.
Inquirer Sports sought for NU coach Sherwin Meneses for confirmation but he has yet to respond as of posting time.
Before her withdrawal, Solomon told the reporters that she has other plans professionally aside from South Korea and her focus right now is with NU’s season.
Only three Filipinos in the women’s KOVO Draft will try their luck with Maddie Madayag, who is currently playing in Japan SV.League, as well as Choco Mucho setter Mars Alba and PLDT middle blocker Majoy Baron.
