MANILA, Philippines—There was no stopping Far Eastern University from sweeping the first round of the UAAP Season 87 men’s volleyball tournament. Not even La Salle could do anything about it.

The tandem of Dryx Saavedra and Lirick Mendoza powered FEU with 17 and 13 points, respectively, while rookie Vennie Ceballos showed his mettle anew with 13 receptions built on 12 digs.

Coach Eddieson Orcullo was pleased with how the Tamaraws stayed perfect but reiterated that they’re still far from their goal of winning the Season 87 title.
“Whatever we started, we need to sustain it until the end to achieve what we want in the second round,” said the top coach.
Noel Kampton finished with 18 points for La Salle, which dropped to a 4-3 card.
