With the Bulldogs’ “five-peat” bid in peril trailing the Tamaraws, 5-8, in the fifth set of Game 2, Hernandez and Disquitado checked in and made timely plays. Hernandez provided good serves and steady floor defense, allowing NU to force a title decider.
In Game 3, NU flaunted its experience to sweep FEU, 25-16, 28-26, 25-23, and claim is fifth straight crown in front of 14,517 fans on Saturday at Mall of Asia Arena.
Hernandez relished the love shown by the NU fans on social media and embraced the “small but terrible” label.

“I’m okay being called ‘small but terrible, ’” Hernandez told Inquirer Sports in Filipino.
“I don’t get offended by stuff like that. As long as I’m doing my job as a service specialist and giving my best, that’s what matters.”
Despite seeing limited action as a service specialist, Hernandez is aware of how crucial his role is for the team.

“Since my role is really focused on serving, I have to make sure I don’t show any signs of nervousness and stay consistent,” he said. “As long as I get my serve in and help with defense, that can be a turning point, especially in crucial moments.”
Hernandez credited his composure to the winning culture built by coach Dante Alinsunurin, as they were able to overcome the hard-fighting FEU in a tough series.
“I’m just really, really happy and super thankful to Coach Dante, all the coaches, and my teammates who never stopped supporting and believing in this team,” he said.
