UAAP: UST welcomes ex-Ateneo big man Kris Porter

MANILA, Philippines—The University of Santo Tomas officially welcomed its newest big man.

Former Ateneo swingman Kris Porter was welcomed by UST coach Pido Jarencio and team manager Waiyip Chong.

The three were photographed in front of the Plaza Mayor by the UST Growling Tigers, confirming his commitment to the squad.

“Former Ateneo big man Kris Porter makes his transfer to UST official as he is welcomed by Growling Tigers head coach Pido Jarencio and team manager Waiyip Chong at the Plaza Mayor,” the Varsitarian, the official publication of UST, posted on social media on Tuesday.

However, Porter will have to sit out the upcoming UAAP Season 88 men’s basketball tournament before gaining eligibility in Season 89 per the UAAP’s ruling.

Porter, though, has yet to enroll but is expected to officially join the squad “in the coming weeks,” as reported by the Varsitarian.

Porter averaged 6.57 points and 6.86 rebounds per game for Ateneo last season.
