The Metro Manila Turf Club, Inc. (MMTCI) is excited to introduce two prestigious stakes races exclusively for imported thoroughbreds: the Prince Cup and the King’s Gold Cup.
These high-profile events will showcase elite racehorses imported from major racing centers such as Australia, the USA, Europe, Japan, and the Middle East. Set to take place at the MMTCI racetrack in Malvar, Batangas, this pioneering project aims to enhance the competitiveness and stature of imported racehorses within the Philippine racing scene.

The series will span three exciting legs on July 20, August 15, and September 19, 2025. The opening leg alone features a guaranteed prize pool of ₱11 million, with ₱5.5 million awarded per race—making these among the most lucrative stakes races in the country’s history. Each entry requires a ₱200,000 fee, which will be awarded to the winning horse and owner.
It is expected that prize money will also increase in the second and the third and final leg, which will be telecast internationally. This initiative aligns with government goals to expand the domestic horse racing market, boost tax revenues, and strengthen the breeding industry by improving the quality and competitiveness of Philippine racehorses on the global stage.

MMTCI Chairman-President Atty. Narciso O. Morales expressed deep appreciation to Philippine Racing Commission Chairman Aurelio De Leon for his crucial support in realizing this milestone.
“MMTCI is committed to elevating Philippine racing to the level of renowned international events in Kentucky, Europe, Australia, Japan, and the Middle East,” Morales said, noting that plans are underway to promote and broadcast these races worldwide to fuel economic growth.
Anticipated entries include top imports from internationally renowned bloodlines such as Into Mischief, Tapit, Justify, Candy Ride, Medaglia d’Oro, Twirling Candy, Frosted, and others from Kentucky, Australia, and Europe—whose runners and progenies have already begun arriving in the country.
This breed of international horse superstars is expected to provide entertainment and respite to the general public worn out by the controversies and ills of online sabong.

Morales also extended sincere thanks to Mr. Ramon Ang of San Miguel Corporation for his generous sponsorship, which greatly benefits the racing community.
He also credited his mentor, the late Supreme Court Associate Justice and Philracom Commissioner Federico Moreno, who spearheaded, 25 years ago, the importation of world-class racehorses into the country and pushed for the creation of this original idea of a Triple Crown stakes race for imported racehorses.
