MANILA, Philippines — Alas Pilipinas women’s team seeks to surpass last year’s two bronze medals finishes as the 2025 SEA V-League Leg 1 in Thailand opens on Friday.

The women of Alas figure in their last major tournament before the 33rd Southeast Asian Games in December.

The Philippines opens its campaign against defending champion and host Thailand on August 1 at 6 p.m. before wrapping up the first leg against Nations Cup champion Vietnam and Indonesia over the weekend, both at 2:30 p.m.

The second leg will be held in Vietnam from August 8 to August 10.

Alas coach Jorge Souza De Brito brings back the core of the AVC Nations Cup runner-up, led by Jia De Guzman, Bella Belen, Alyssa Solomon, Angel Canino, Dell Palomata, Fifi Sharma, Thea Gagate, and Dawn Macandili-Catindig.

Adamson’s UAAP Rookie of the Year Shaina Nitura and Cla Loresco are also returning to the line-up with VTV Cup players Justine Jazareno, Leila Cruz, and Maddie Madayag joining old reliables Eya Laure and Vanie Gandler as well as debuting setter Mars Alba.
