The others on the PLDT crew allowed Savi Davison “to be away for a little bit,” and to make up for that, the prolific Filipino Canadian scorer is just too willing to do a lot of the work as the High Speed Hitters battle to go all the way in the PVL On Tour.

“I’d like to give as much credit as I can to the team for just allowing me to be away for a little bit and, you know, doing what I know they were capable of,” Davison, after a 28-point explosion in her first full game back from a long-overdue vacation in Canada, said.

“It’s just a great opportunity for me to just add (to the effort) how I’m used to and contribute how I’m used to,” she went on after a 25-21, 25-21, 25-19 victory that eliminated ZUZ Coffee on Thursday at Philsports Arena. “So hopefully, we get into the finals and then we’ll see from there.”

That break where she spent a lot of quality time with loved ones who have been her distant support group, was a welcome one for Davison, who played sparingly in their last two preliminary games before scoring on 25 of 50 kill tries while having two blocks, and an ace to help the High Speed Hitters stay unbeaten in six games.

“It was so good,” Davison told the Inquirer of her vacation. “I hadn’t been back home since July of last year. So just to meet everybody and see everybody again and just give love back because they’ve been giving me love all the way from Canada.

“So it’s nice. Full circle moment.”

PLDT is returning to the semifinals since the 2024 Reinforced Conference, which Davison missed due to a knee injury, as the High Speed Hitters face the winner of the Creamline-Farm Fresh quarterfinal game on Saturday at 6:30 p.m. at PhilSports Arena.

“When I came back, I was on the other side of the court compared to the starting six,” Davison said of her teammates who held the fort. “They put up points. They’re the backbone of the team. I could say there’s more to it than just me. So I just want to give them all the credit.

“I’m looking forward to it all. The fans, the energy, the competition, of course,” she said of her coming Final Four debut, which is set on Tuesday at Smart Araneta Coliseum.
