MANILA, Philippines — Ara Galang held back her tears after the Chery Tiggo Crossovers entered the PVL on Tour Finals in what would be her first championship stint in the league.
Chery Tiggo ended a four-year finals drought after eliminating Cignal, 25-17, 16-25, 25-21, 25-23, in the knockout semifinal on Tuesday at Smart Araneta Coliseum.

But Galang, overcome with joy, stressed that the job’s not finished.
“It’s my first PVL finals. I’m just really, really happy. Right now, I’ll enjoy the moment a bit, but I’m already thinking about what’s next. I don’t want to stop here,” said an emotional Galang in Filipino after scoring 15 points including the match-winner
“We’ve made it to the finals, and I really want to make the most of this opportunity. But I’m just super happy.”

After battling injuries in her past collegiate career with La Salle and semipro with F2 Logistics, Galang kept on giving it her all for the love of the game.
She is relishing her first PVL finals with the team that signed her after F2 Logistics’ disbandment in December 2023 as she leads the “lowkey but talented” Crossovers cast.
“There were a lot of things and people that inspired me. Volleyball has always been my passion. I really enjoy playing. And as long as I still have the opportunity, I don’t want to waste it,” said Galang.
With first PVL preseason title within reach for the Crossovers– their second since the 2021 Bacarra, Ilocos Norte bubble–the veteran wing spiker vows to play her heart out when they battle the winner of the Creamline-PLDT semis game on Sunday at Mall of Asia Arena.
“I’ll keep doing my best for as long as I can to help this Chery team. I want to give back for the trust they’ve given me. I also play for my family and for everyone who believes in me. And if there are people I’m able to inspire, kids, adults, whoever, that’s also who I’m playing for,” she said.
