The PBA on Friday approved the swap that will give Converge the No. 2 overall pick originally owned by Phoenix in the Rookie Draft.
Converge secured the right to choose after Terrafirma in Sunday’s proceedings at SM Mall of Asia Music Hall with Phoenix getting the No. 8 selection plus incoming third-year forward Bryan Santos.
Both teams got the nod of the league a day after their three-way trade with NorthPort was approved by the PBA.
Phoenix acquired Evan Nelle, Converge secured the rights of Larry Muyang while NorthPort got Jeo Ambohot in the said deal.
With the No. 2 pick in hand, the FiberXers are in position to land one of the top names in the class.
Juan Gomez de Liano appears to be a strong candidate, provided Terrafirma passes on the former University of the Philippines guard.
FiberXers officials were seen being chummy with Gomez de Liano during the final day of the Draft Combine at Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig City.
Whether that is a strong indication of Gomez de Liano being taken by Converge will be known come Draft Day.
