MANILA, Philippines — Akari and Creamline will have more time to prepare for its winner-take-all championship game for the 2024 PVL Reinforced Conference supremacy as the Monday matches have been postponed due to inclement weather caused by tropical storm Enteng.
Before the league made the announcement, PLDT broke the news, wishing everyone’s safety and assuring the High Speed Hitters will play the battle for bronze against Cignal, which has been rescheduled on Wednesday, amid its junked protest on the unsuccessful net fault challenge in the end game of their semis loss to Akari that could have brought the squad to the championship round.

“Your safety and our team’s safety come first. See you on September 4, Team PLDT. Ingat po tayong lahat,” PLDT announced.

The PVL has yet to announce the venue for the rescheduled final on Wednesday as of posting time.
“Due to inclement weather brought by Typhoon Enteng, all Premier Volleyball League games scheduled for Monday, September 2, have been postponed and will be moved to September 4,” the league wrote. “Stay safe and dry. Please stay tuned for updates on the rescheduled match dates.”

Akari is gunning for its first-ever title since joining the league in 2022, while Creamline is looking to end a six-year Reinforced championship drought with its ninth overall PVL crown.
The Chargers remained unbeaten in 10 games capped by a 25-22, 18-25, 22-25, 26-24, 17-15 win over the High Speed Hitters in a semifinal game marred with a controversial call on Saturday at Mall of Asia Arena.

The Cool Smashers, on the other hand, banked on the tandem of Erica Staunton and Bernadeth Pons to recover from a 0-2 start before knocking out the No.2 Cignal HD Spikers, 20-25, 26-28, 25-18, 27-25, 15-13.
Both teams have more time to prepare with Akari coach Taka Minowa banking on the troika of Oly Okaro, Ivy Lacsina, and Grethcel Soltones against the trio of Pons, Staunton, and Michele Gumabao, who have been stepping up for the Sherwin Meneses-coached team in the absence of Alyssa Valdez, Jema Galanza, and Tots Carlos.
