Alex Eala headed home after wrapping up China stints

MANILA, Philippines — Alex Eala is flying back home to Manila after a fruitful month in China.

The 19-year-old Filipino netter fell to Czechia’s Marie Bouzkova in the opening round of the Women’s Tennis Association (WTA) 250 Jiangxi on Monday, 5-7, 6(4)-7.

Despite the round of 32 exit at the hands of the World No.49 netter in her fourth tourney in China — her last WTA event of the season–Eala took to Instagram to share how she enjoyed her month-long stint.

“That’s a wrap on 1 month in China. Time to go home now,” wrote Eala

Eala, currently World No.150, made it to the main draw of the Guangzhou Open last week but fell to United States’ Bernarda Pera, 0-6, 3-6, in the first round.

The Rafael Nadal Academy graduate had six WTA tournaments this year.

The Filipino prodigy missed the main draw of the Wuhan Open and Ningbo Open three weeks ago.
