MANILA, Philippines — Bella Belen hopes longtime teammate Alyssa Solomon gets drafted in the 2025 Korean Volleyball Federation (KOVO) Asian Quota Draft for the next V-League Season.

Belen was happy to see her fellow National University hitter Solomon, who made the final list of the 43 Asian import aspirants. Maddie Madayag, who is currently playing in the Japan SV.League, Choco Mucho setter Mars Alba, and PLDT middle blocker Majoy Baron were also on the list.

“Ate Aly is the type of person who doesn’t share much unless you ask her. So when we saw she was trying out, I said that Ate Aly has a big chance,” said Belen in Filipino. “She’s been showing great potential, especially in this past UAAP and in international leagues. Hopefully, she gets picked.”

Like Solomon, Belen, who plans to turn pro after this season, admitted that her dream is to play overseas, too.

“I think every player has that dream of playing internationally as an import. But right now, I’m not focused on that. I’m focusing on the UAAP first. Each player has different goals. For me, I just want to stay in the present and finish the UAAP season first. But of course, I do want to play internationally someday,” said the two-time UAAP MVP.

Seven teams will draft their respective Asian imports in a non-face-to-face draft at Mayfield Hotel on April 11.

Belen is grateful for Solomon’s dedication as NU, which boasts a 5-0 record, looks to remain on top.

“In training and during the games, we can see that even though Ate Aly applied, she herself said that it’s just a tryout. She’s still focused on the task at hand. We all know our priorities, and we support each other,” Belen said.
