The Philippine Football Federation officially named Carles Cuadrat coach of the Philippine men’s football team on a full-time basis.

His appointment was announced late Wednesday after taking the reins on an interim basis following the departure of fellow Spaniard Albert Capellas.

Cuadrat was on caretaker duties when the Philippines forced a 2-2 draw against Tajikistan in the Asian Cup Qualifiers last June 10 in New Clark City, Tarlac.

His new role came as the PFF also tapped Mico Gutierrez as its new team manager after Freddy Gonzalez’s resignation.

Gutierrez is the brother of PFF president John Gutierrez and also heads the National Capital Regional Football Association. He recently held the team manager role when the Philippine U-16 team ruled the Lion City Cup in Singapore.

The 56-year-old Cuadrat was best known for his coaching stint in India for clubs Bengaluru and East Bengal before joining Capellas as part of the staff on the Philippine men’s squad.

He is the third coach in the last 17 months for the senior team after Tom Saintfiet and Capellas.

Capellas left weeks before the Tajikistan matchup, with the PFF citing “personal reasons,” cutting short a successful tenure that saw a semifinal run for the Philippines in the Asean Championship.
