Carlo Biado, fresh from winning the World Pool Championship for the second time, became the latest Filipino pool player to join the elite Billiard Congress of America Hall of Fame.
The governing body for pool in the United States made the announcement on Monday after Biado was elected on his second year of eligibility, garnering 91 percent (42 of 46) submitted ballots from a Hall of Fame board.

“I did not expect this now. I think I’m not ready yet,” Biado said in a press release issued by the BCA. “But since I was elected, I’m going to take it. It’s a blessing and I’m going to share this with my fellow players in the Philippines.”
The 41-year-old will be formally inducted on Nov. 22 in St. Augustine, Florida.
Under the guidelines, a player will be enshrined if it garners at least 70 percent of the votes from a panel of United States Billiard Media Association members, elected at-large members and living members of the Hall of Fame.

Players are eligible for induction once they turn 40 years old.
Biado became just the sixth Filipino into the Hall of Fame, joining Efren “Bata” Reyes (2003), Francisco “Django” Bustamante (2010), Jose “Amang” Parica (2014), Alex Pagulayan (2019) and Dennis Orcollo (2002).
Pagulayan once represented the Philippines on the professional and international circuit before shifting his allegiance to Canada.
