Cloudbreak Health, a healthcare-focused video remote interpretation services company, announced it has rebranded as Equiti and acquired tech-enabled language services provider Voyce.

The union brings together Voyce offerings and Cloudbreak’s Martti, a video remote interpretation platform, under the Equiti brand.

The company says the merger is expected to increase interpreter resources, resulting in faster connection times and more expansive language coverage.

“Today’s announcements are a big step to improving equitable care for millions of patients across North America,” Andrew Royce, CEO of Voyce and the new president of Equiti, said in a statement.

“They reflect our dedication to delivering technology-driven solutions that empower healthcare providers and improve patient outcomes. As the teams behind Martti and Voyce come together, we will provide the best and most intuitive platforms for interpreters, while simultaneously addressing the diverse needs of hospitals, health systems and their communities.”

The Equiti team is led by CEO Maureen Huber, president Andrew Royce, CFO Mike Schmidt, and Martti cofounder Andy Panos.

THE LARGER TREND

In 2020, Cloudbreak Health announced it scored $10 million in investments from Columbia Partners Private Capital.

In June, Voyce was awarded a group purchasing agreement for translation and interpretation services with Conductiv Contracts.

The agreement allowed Conductiv members to take advantage of special pricing and terms pre-negotiated by Conductiv for translation and interpretation services.

Other companies offering remote interpretation services within healthcare include California-based LanguageLineSolutions, which provides phone, video remote and onsite interpreting and translation, localization, testing and training for bilingual staff and interpreters.

In June, the company launched LanguageLine Analytics, a tool within the MyLanguageLine client portal that allows organizations to make data-driven decisions and optimize their language access programs.

Arizona-based Cyracom International offers a full suite of language services developed for the healthcare industry, including video interpretation. In 2020, Voiance rebranded as Cyracom.

Based in Texas, boostlingo provides on-demand medical interpretation for healthcare. In April, the company unveiled AI Pro, an AI-enabled platform offering real-time captions, transcriptions, translations and speech features in multiple languages.

AI Pro allows professionals to communicate on conferencing platforms regardless of language or hearing disabilities.
