Ex-rival picks Pacquiao over Mario Barrios

MANILA, Philippines–Shane Mosley knows a thing or two about competing at a high level at an advanced age.

Mosley, a world champion in three different weight classes, fought into his 40s before officially retiring in 2017.

When asked about Manny Pacquiao’s return from a four-year retirement at 46 years old, Mosley has no doubt that the Filipino boxing legend still has the tools to get the job done.

“Yeah, I can see him winning, his mind is there, physically he’s there, mentally he’s there, so why not?” Mosley said in an interview with EsNews.

Pacquiao is in the thick of his training camp back in his old stomping grounds at Wild Card Boxing Club in Hollywood just a month before challenging WBC welterweight titlist Mario Barrios on July 19 in Las Vegas.

Pacquiao, for a change, is a clear underdog against the much taller and younger Barrios, who is 16 years his junior.

Mosley fought prime Pacquiao in 2011 and lost by unanimous decision for the WBO welterweight title.

Mosley last fought in 2016 at 43 years old, losing to David Avanesyan for the WBA interim welterweight strap.
