MANILA, Philippines–Four PBA teams will take part in the 40th Kadayawan Invitational Basketball Tournament which starts on Thursday at University of Southeastern Philippines Gym in Davao City.
Converge and Phoenix, under new coach Willy Wilson, make their return while NLEX and Blackwater will also vie for the title of the four-day event held as part of the city’s annual festival.

A single-round format will be used with the top two teams advancing to the championship game on Sunday while the bottom two teams meet for third place.
Phoenix and Blackwater open the competition at 5 p.m. followed by NLEX against Converge at 7 p.m. while Friday’s matches pit Phoenix-Converge and NLEX-Blackwater.
Saturday’s doubleheader has Blackwater against Converge while NLEX tackles Phoenix.

All teams will use the tournament to prepare for the PBA’s landmark 50th season, which starts on Oct. 5.
Last year’s event saw Rain or Shine defeating UAAP side La Salle for the title, while Phoenix claimed third place over Converge.
During the 2024 edition, La Salle pulled off upset wins over Rain or Shine and Converge to reach the final.
