MANILA, Philippines—Gilas Pilipinas guard Dwight Ramos was in no mood to sulk after the Filipinos’ exit in the 2025 Fiba Asia Cup on Wednesday.

Instead, the sharpshooting guard is looking ahead for what’s next for the Philippines before they even pack their bags and depart Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.

“It’ll come in time. We’re just trying to get comfortable with each other and the system and we’ll see them again in February,” said Ramos after their 84-60 loss to the Boomers on Wednesday night.

“I think, for the whole tournament we struggled shooting the three but when we get back together again in November, we’ll switch things up and address our defense.”

Ramos, who finished with 15 points and seven rebounds, already has the schedule in mind.

The national team members will go their separate ways after the Asia Cup before reuniting in early November for the first window of the 2027 Fiba World Cup Asian Qualifiers, where they will face Guam twice.

In the second window, set for late February to early March, Gilas will take on New Zealand and, fittingly, Australia.

Ramos is expected to be eager for payback in those matchups. The Levanga Hokkaido guard has always been an advocate of self-improvement.

“After every game I always think about my mistakes. I want to learn and get better,” said Ramos. “I was hoping we could get this game and get to the semis.”
