MANILA, Philippines–Gilas Pilipinas will take on Saudi Arabia in the qualification game for the quarterfinals of the Fiba Asia Cup after the host nation’s romp of India on Saturday in Jeddah.
Saudi Arabia pulled away midway in the second quarter on its way to securing an 84-59 rout at King Abdullah Sports City to secure a second-place finish in Group C at 2-1.

That cemented a faceoff with the Philippines, which wound up third in Group D at 1-2 following its 66-57 win over Iraq a few hours earlier.
The two teams will square off Monday at 7 p.m. local time or 12 midnight Tuesday Philippine time, with the winner advancing to the quarters against Australia, the top team in Group A.
The Philippines has won all three meetings against Saudi Arabia in Fiba competitions, the most recent being a 76-63 victory in November 2022 at the Fiba World Cup Qualifiers.
But things could be different this time, especially with the way Saudi Arabia has performed in group play.

Saudi Arabia came up short against China, 93-88, in the opener but bounced back to take down Jordan, 77-73.
Big man Mohammad Alsuwailem produced 15 points and 14 rebounds for Saudi Arabia and could possibly pose problems for AJ Edu and June Mar Fajardo in the intriguing faceoff.
Muhammad-Ali Abdur-Rakhman added 14 points, five rebounds and six assists for the tournament hosts.
India was eliminated with a 0-3 record while Jordan progressed to the playoff for a quarters seat against Group D runner-up Chinese-Taipei with a 1-2 record.
