MANILA, Philippines—Gilas Youth is staring at the same situation their big brothers were looking at before in the 2025 Fiba Asia Cup.
Much like their seniors, Gilas Youth have to go through the qualifiers for a quarterfinals spot in the 2025 Fiba U16 Asia Cup.

The young Nationals were sent to the qualifying phase after finishing with a 1-2 record in Group B following a blowout loss to New Zealand on Tuesday.
Gilas Men also lost two of their three games in the group stage, arranging a qualifying match against Saudi Arabia. Behind Justin Brownlee’s heroics, Gilas outlasted Saudi Arabia, 95-88, in overtime to advance to the quarters, where it lost to eventual champion Australia.
The similarities don’t end there.

Gilas Youth is also facing a team from the Middle East in Bahrain on Thursday, 11 p.m., at MBank Arena in Mongolia for a ticket to the last eight.
Bahrain wrapped up pool play with a 2-1 slate in Group A.
A win over Bahrain pits Gilas against powerhouse rival China in the quarters.
