MANILA, Philippines—Gilas Youth was unable to keep its momentum going on Tuesday night after dropping its final group game in the Fiba U16 Asia Cup at Buyant Ukhaa Sport Complex in Mongolia.
New Zealand denied the Philippines an outright quarterfinals seat in the quarterfinals with an 85-54 romp.

Despite the loss, Gilas still has one more shot to advance to the next round as it takes on Bahrain on Wednesday in a knockout match for a ticket to the final eight. Bahrain finished pool play with a 2-1 card in Group A.
Gilas couldn’t make it two in a row, failing to follow up its 65-60 win over Indonesia on Monday.

Jhustin Hallare led Gilas with 13 points while Mark Jhello Lumagub also notched double-digits with 11.
Liam Anthony Keogh powered the Kiwis with 17 points along with seven rebounds while Lawson Pryor added 15 points.
