Galeries’ second overall pick Jean Asis had little time to celebrate her graduation as a Tourism Management student-athlete from Far Eastern University.

Amid the inclement weather, blessings continued to pour in for Asis, who attended her commencement ceremony at Newport Performing Arts Theater in Pasay City on Thursday before flying to Cebu that night to join the Highrisers for their PVL on Tour games over the weekend.

“I’m super happy and feel so blessed because after all the years of hard work, I finally graduated,” Asis told the Inquirer in an interview organized by her management, Hustle and Groove.

“It’s really happening, and right after that, we have a game in Cebu for the PVL, so I’m just overwhelmed with all the good things happening right now.”

It may have been a tiring day for the 5-foot-10 middle blocker, but it was the result of years of commitment as a Lady Tamaraw for the past four seasons.

“It’s really fulfilling because it wasn’t easy. I poured in sweat, tears, sleepless nights, and all the hard work just to reach this dream. Now that I’m done being a student-athlete, I think it’s time for me to focus on this new journey as a pro,” said Asis.

Now focused on her pro career, the PVL rookie is eager to improve her game as she hopes to help Galeries snap its three-game skid when it faces Farm Fresh on Saturday at 6:30 p.m. at the USJ-R Coliseum.

Despite a decent rookie debut, Asis looks to bounce back and show maturity beyond her years to help her squad enter the win column.

Galeries will also take on the unbeaten PLDT on Sunday to wrap up its Pool A stint.
