MANILA, Philippines—Embattled PBA player John Amores plans to appeal his case after the Games and Amusement Board (GAB) revoked his license following his involvement in a shooting incident in Lumban, Laguna three months ago.

PBA commissioner Willie Marcial bared the development Monday night.

“Dumating sa’min ‘yong email sa technical group ko, na-receive ko kahapon (Sunday) at three [in the afternoon]. Nakausap ko si Amores, sabi ko, ‘natanggap ko na anong balak mo?’ Balak niyang um-appeal,” said Marcial on Monday night.

“For us in the PBA, we’ll comply because that’s a government matter and we’re under the provision of GAB so that’s what we’ll do.”

The 25-year-old Amores is currently serving a one-conference ban without pay in the PBA. Despite his violent reputation, Amores was still selected in the fifth round of last year’s draft by the Batang Pier.

“We just don’t know exactly when he’s going to make the appeal but he will be making an appeal,” Marcial said.

Back in November 2022, Amores, the former Jose Rizal University forward, was banned by the NCAA and expelled by JRU after he ran amok and punched players from College of St. Benilde during a game.

“As far as I know, and I’ll still clarify this to our legal team, he’ll have no pay. We’re under ‘no play, no pay,’ rules in the PBA,” Marcial said.

“If I remember correctly, he still has a year [under his contract].”
