The running narrative at the start of the PBA Commissioner’s Cup semifinals was that Barangay Ginebra would face challenges in terms of fatigue and preparation and that NorthPort, which has been having a strong conference thus far, could exploit them.

Well, that was completely debunked on Wednesday night at Smart Araneta Coliseum, with the Gin Kings playing as if they had the luxury of rest and battering a Batang Pier that looked shell-shocked when the deficit ballooned in the second half.

Ginebra prevailed, 115-93, with a chance to take a 2-0 lead on Friday at Philsports Arena in Pasig City. Still, coach Tim Cone feels fatigue may eventually catch up with his squad.

MANILA, Philippines—Most of the Ginebra core was fatigued heading into Game 1 of the PBA Commissioner’s Cup semifinals against Northport.

Fortunately, Troy Rosario, who’s fully recovered from an ankle injury, stepped up to the plate and powered the Gin Kings to a 115-93 blowout of the Batang Pier.

Rosario, who was with Gilas Pilipinas in the last two weeks, didn’t get to see action for the national team due to his nagging ankle injury.

MANILA, Philippines—Northport import Kadeem Jack made sure to keep the Batang Pier’s spirits up despite dropping Game 1 of the PBA Commissioner’s Cup semifinals at the hands of Ginebra.

The Batang Pier found themselves on the losing end of a  115-93 beatdown from the Gin Kings At Araneta Coliseum on Wednesday.

Jack, though, said that Northport is still in high morale considering the team still have chances left to right the ship with the semifinals being a best-of-seven series.
