All but one of the six division winners from the kickoff leg of the ICTSI Junior PGT Visayas-Mindanao Series will be seeing action next week at Negros Occidental Golf and Country Club in Bacolod City as they resume chase for points to make the national finals.

Brittany Tamayo and Tashanah Balangauan, the girls’ 11-14 and 15-18 champions, respectively at Mactan in Cebu, will be leading the charge of favorites at the right, tree-lined layout formerly known as the Marapara.

In the girls’ 7-10 class, Cebu’s Denise Mendoza eyes another strong performance after a 15-shot romp in the opening leg, even as Davao’s Ethan Lago also seeks to defend his title in the boys’ 7-10 division after cruising to an 11-stroke win over Cebu’s Kvan Alburo and Cagayan de Oro’s James Rolida.

Tamayo, meanwhile, is bracing for a tougher outing with several fresh challengers entering the mix, including Johanna Uyking (Davao), Andrea Borromeo (Cebu), and Gabriela Regino (Bacolod).

Over in the boys’ 11-14 division, Bukidnon’s Ralph Batican also seeks a repeat after topping the Mactan leg by four strokes. Although runner-up Ken Guillermo will not be in the field this time, competition remains fierce with South Cotabato’s Jared and Laurence Saban, Bacolod’s Isaac Locsin and Zach Casil and Bukidnon’s Mico Woo all eyeing the crown.

After next week, the JPGT series shifts to the Bacolod Golf and Country Club (formerly Binitin) in Murcia town from May 19 to 21, before heading to Mindanao for a four-leg swing that kicks off at Del Monte Golf Club from June 25 to 27.
