MANILA, Philippines–San Miguel sniper Marcio Lassiter wasted no time breaking the Philippine Basketball Association’s long-standing all-time record for career triples made.

The Beermen sniper got going early at Smart Araneta Coliseum, hitting back-to-back-to-back baskets to break Jimmy Alapag’s record that went untouched for nearly eight years.

As if to make a point, Lassiter also drilled another tiple at the 5:46 mark of the opening period. He let out a guttural scream to celebrate his basket—one that put the Beermen up, 23-7, and one that forced the Barangay Ginebra to call for a timeout.

Interestingly, the last record was also set against Barangay Ginebra. Then playing for Meralco, Alapag hit a triple from the left wing early into Game 2 of the Governors’ Cup championship series on Oct. 9, 20216.

The two players who could try to chase after Lassiter’s record are Barangay Ginebra’s LA Tenorio and Magnolia’s Paul Lee.
