LAS VEGAS–WBC welterweight champion Mario Barrios is ready for whatever tricks Manny Pacquiao has up his sleeve on Saturday.
Having spent months studying Pacquiao’s movements and perfecting his tendencies, veteran trainer Bob Santos already has a good idea of what to expect from the Hall-of-Famer.

“Knowing Manny I heard him up on the stage and he said I got a few surprises and when I hear that, I said to myself, ‘oh God here we go.’” said Santos.
“Manny’s always had that mindset of kill or be killed and he’s got so much experience where he could play possum for a second and he’s lulling you, lulling you, and boom, or he could just come forward and just blaze you.”
Santos had said he and his team watched a lot of the fights Pacquiao had with Mexican great Juan Manuel Marquez, who fought the Filipino legend four times.
Although Pacquiao came away with a couple of close victories after their split draw in 2004, Marquez put the exclamation point on their storied rivalry with a brutal knockout win in 2012.
Barrios’ camp is wary of Pacquiao’s “unique style” and knows there’s little to no room for error.

“He has the ability to do two different things and when he says he has a lot of surprises, I think he’s gonna vary his attack and we gotta be super, super alert with him because he’s obviously very dangerous and Manny’s very awkward,” said Santos.
“He has his own unique style and therefore we gotta be very, very leery when he goes, oh I got a few surprises, we know you do because you got one of the most unique styles in the history of the sport.”
Pacquiao is eyeing to become the first boxer to win a world title after being inducted into the International Boxing Hall of Fame.
“I brought some surprises for them. Manny Pacquiao always brings surprises.”
