Harrison Barnes buried a buzzer-beating 3-pointer and the San Antonio Spurs damaged the Golden State Warriors’ bid for a top-four finish in the NBA Western Conference with a 114-111 victory Wednesday night in San Francisco.
Riding the momentum of six wins in its last seven games, Golden State (47-33) entered the night tied with the Los Angeles Clippers, Denver Nuggets and Memphis Grizzlies for fourth place in the West.

The Warriors’ loss dropped them below all three. The Clippers and Nuggets won late games on the West Coast while the Grizzlies had Wednesday night off.
With just two games remaining, Golden State dropped into the seventh spot — a play-in position — in the West, only a half-game ahead of the Minnesota Timberwolves, who also did not play Wednesday.
With both teams on the second night of back-to-backs, the Warriors got even at 111-all on two free throws by Draymond Green with 3.1 seconds remaining.

The Spurs called a timeout to advance the ball, and the inbound pass went straight to Barnes, a former Warriors player, who took a dribble toward the Spurs bench and launched a high-arcing shot that reached the net just as the final horn sounded.
Barnes, who had all but two of his 20 points on 3-pointers, went 6-for-9 from deep for the Spurs, who won the game with far better accuracy from beyond the arc (18-for-46, 39.1 percent) than the Warriors (16-for-48, 33.3 percent).
Stephon Castle and Keldon Johnson paced San Antonio (33-47) with 21 points apiece, while Julian Champagnie added 14, Chris Paul 12, and Devin Vassell and Sandro Mamukelashvili 11 apiece.
Johnson, Champagnie and Mamukelashvili helped the Spurs, who are playing without stars Victor Wembanyama and De’Aaron Fox, outscore the Warriors 50-26 off the bench.
Johnson and Mamukelashvili were the leading San Antonio rebounders with eight apiece, while Castle had a team-high five assists.

Stephen Curry had a game-high 30 points and Jimmy Butler III 28 for the Warriors, who lost the season series 2-1 to the Spurs. Green had nine rebounds, followed by Moses Moody and Curry with eight each. Green also led with eight assists, one more than Butler.
Green also scored 13 points, while Golden State backups Jonathan Kuminga and Buddy Hield added 12 apiece. –Field Level Media
