It’s one of those rare moments when both the winner and the loser got what they wanted from a single match.
Stallion-Laguna wanted to get better that it was during an opening-day victory and used a week’s worth of practice to do so. The result? A 6-0 rout of University of Santo Tomas in the 2025 PFF (Philippine Football Federation) Women’s League over the weekend.
“The first game we still did well, but I thought that we, you know, took the week and … worked on what we needed to do,” said Chandler McDaniel, the Stallion skipper who has had stints with the national team. “And we were able to finish a couple more chances.”

There was an accompanying prize to that win: Stallion kept a share of the lead in the six-team field with six points from two matches, tied with rival and fellow powerhouse Kaya-Iloilo.
“You know, like I’ve been saying, we want to prove to everyone that last season was not just a fluke and that, you know, just because we won once doesn’t mean that we can’t win again,” Chandler said.
“And we’re here to win again.”
McDaniel scored goals in the seventh and 20th minutes to get Stallion going, while Kala McDaniel also had a brace (26th and 67th) to help trigger the rout. Sierra Castles found the back of the net in the 42nd while Pauline San Buenaventura snuck in a goal in the 82nd to leave UST winded.
Still, the Lady Booters came out of the field getting what they needed from the match.
“So far, on our part, it’s going well because we don’t really aim for the score, we don’t really aim for the win,” said Rica Gerona, the defender who played midfield for UST.
“Coach Marjo (Allado) is mixing the positions of the players,” Gerona said. “He’s identifying what fits the players’ positions. Some of us, we’re practicing different positions, that’s our goal. And that’s our goal for the season.”
Kaya, meanwhile, frustrated the debuting Capital1 Solar Strikers, 3-0.
Dionesa Tolentin kicked off Kaya’s bid against Capital1 with a goal in the 21st minute and team captain Hali Long doubled the cushion in the 42nd.
“We played together that’s why we got this win,” Tolentin said. “We followed the system our coach set up and we just added a little of our creativity on the field.”
