Rookie Brandon Ramirez bucked a dislocated jaw to play a big part in NLEX’s 117-87 demolition of hapless Terrafirma for its fifth straight win in the PBA Philippine Cup on Wednesday at Ninoy Aquino Stadium.
Ramirez finished with a season-high 21 points on top of four rebounds as the Road Warriors extended their remarkable run after opening the all-Filipino tournament with a loss to the San Miguel Beermen.
The second round pick in this season’s Rookie Draft suited up despite sustaining the injury during the third quarter of NLEX’s massive win over Barangay Ginebra last week.
He scored 10 in the opening period which the Road Warriors ran roughshod over the Dyip, who have lost for the six straight time since starting the conference with a shock win over the Phoenix Fuel Masters.
Terrafirma equaled its average margin of defeat in the tournament.
JB Bahio had 17 points, 10 rebounds and four assists, Robbie Herndon dropped 15 while Javee Mocon added 13 for NLEX.
Robert Bolick scored just three points on 1-of-8 shooting but added 10 assists and three steals.
NLEX won before taking a nine-day break with its game match being against Converge on May 23 at Philsports Arena in Pasig City.
Kevin Ferrer scored 23 and Louie Sangalang had another strong game with 15 points, 11 rebounds, four assists and three blocks for the slumping Dyip.
Terrafirma’s next match is Sunday against San Miguel at Ynares Center II in Montalban, Rizal.
