MANILA, Philippines–Converge’s backcourt came through with the big plays down the stretch to hold off Rain or Shine, 107-97, and raise its winning streak to three games in the PBA Philippine Cup on Wednesday at Philsports Arena in Pasig City.
Schonny Winston and Alec Stockton scored 24 points apiece as the FiberXers climbed up to 4-2 after facing the team that eliminated them in the quarterfinals of the Commissioner’s Cup last February.
The two provided support to the frontline duo of rookie Justine Baltazar and Justine Arana, who once again delivered a double-double each for Converge.

Baltazar finished with 13 points and 22 rebounds aside from three blocks even as Arana had 18 points, 17 rebounds, six assists and three steals despite tough defense imposed on him by the Elasto Painters.
Rain or Shine dropped to 2-2 as its fast-paced tempo eventually caught up when Converge took control in the fourth quarter.
Baskets by Winston and Stockton proved to be shots that kept the Elasto Painters at bay.

Santi Santillan scored 26 points, but couldn’t buy some baskets in the second half when Converge’s defense tightened up. Keith Datu returned from a calf injury and added 11 points and 10 rebounds.
The win came before Converge plays the biggest game at this point of the eliminations when it battles Barangay Ginebra on May 10 at Bren Guiao Convention Center in San Fernando, Pampanga.
Rain or Shine will try to bounce back on May 7 against Blackwater at Ninoy Aquino Stadium.
