Don Trollano scored 21 points in a bounce-back performance as San Miguel Beer walloped Phoenix, 111-92, on Sunday and moved up to third in the PBA Philippine Cup at Ninoy Aquino Stadium.
Trollano dropped 10 during the second quarter, where the Beermen broke away from the Fuel Masters and eventually claimed their fourth victory in six games in the season-ending conference.
The performance was a welcome relief for Trollano, who was held scoreless during San Miguel’s 89-84 loss to TNT last week at Ynares Center in Antipolo City
CJ Perez topscored with 26 points while June Mar Fajardo added 20 points and 12 rebounds in the win, which kicked off what’s seen to be a favorable stretch for the Beermen.
San Miguel will next face hapless Terrafirma on May 18 at Ynares Center II in Montalban, Rizal.
Rookie Kai Ballungay scored 23 and Ken Tuffin tallied 16 but Phoenix fell to a 2-4 win-loss slate.
The Fuel Masters will face Barangay Ginebra on Friday at Philsports Arena in Pasig City.
Phoenix kept things close in the opening period until Trollano got his offense going that triggered San Miguel’s attack.
San Miguel led by a high of 24, with Phoenix showing little sign of a comeback in the second half.
Jason Perkins added 15 points and nine rebounds for the Fuel Masters.
