MANILA, Philippines—TNT is down, 2-1, in the PBA Philippine Cup Finals to San Miguel Beer, with its chances of completing just the league’s sixth Grand Slam now greatly depending on a Game 4 victory on Sunday.

That’s not the bad news.

Poy Erram, a big piece to why the Tropang 5G have a shot at completing the Grand Slam, is listed as doubtful for that critical game, and if one hears Erram speak, he’s out of it in all likelihood.

“I don’t think so,” Erram said in Filipino when asked if he could be available for Game 4. “I just can’t take the pain.

“Maybe if there’s some magic (performed on my foot), I can play,” he went on. “As of now, it’s really painful.”

Erram gingerly walked off the Smart Araneta Coliseum grounds after watching his fellow Tropang 5G take a 108-88 Game 3 defeat on Friday with a boot in his right foot, which he injured in the waning minutes of a 98-92 Game 2 loss.

There’s no timetable for his return, if it is all possible, in the best-of-seven series, as what was initially feared as just a twisted ankle revealed a more serious condition.

“I tore a ligament in my ankle,” said the lanky big man.

Without Erram, the Tropang 5G had Brandon Ganuelas-Rosser and Henry Galinato playing more minutes to fill the void.

His absence also didn’t help in preventing June Mar Fajardo from dominating for San Miguel, with the 6-foot-10 cornerstone accounting for 33 points and 11 rebounds Friday.

Ganuelas-Rosser and Galinato had just three points each in the loss.
