MANILA, Philippines–Terrafirma made no surprise in selecting Geo Chiu as the first overall pick of the PBA Rookie Draft held Sunday at SM Mall of Asia Music Hall.
The Dyip went with the 6-foot-9 product of Ateneo after being one of the touted names in this year’s class that attracted 122 applicants.

Converge also went with the obvious choice at No. 2 in Juan Gomez de Liano, who comes in carrying overseas experience in Japan, Lithuania and South Korea.
Six-foot-one guard Dalph Panopio was taken third by Blackwater following a stint with Batang Gilas, South Korea and India while Ateneo’s Chris Koon went fourth to NorthPort.
NLEX grabbed guard L-Jay Gonzales at No. 5, Magnolia took San Beda’s Yukien Andrada before Meralco chose well-experienced guard Jason Brickman.

San Miguel Beer selected shooter Chris Miller, Rain or Shine drafted Christian Manaytay and Barangay Ginebra picked Sonny Estil, the Most Valuable Player of the Draft Combine.
Jun Roque was the last pick of the first round by Rain or Shine.
