MANILA, Philippines—Just shortly after Rain or Shine punched a ticket to the PBA Commissioner’s Cup playoffs, there was no sugarcoating on the part of coach Yeng Guiao ahead of his team’s quarterfinals series against Converge.
Rain or Shine sealed a best-of-three series with No. 3 Converge after beating TNT on Friday night.

“In our last game against them, they blew us out so psychologically, I think they had an advantage against us. We’ll try to find a way to overcome that,” said Guiao in Filipino.

“However, when it comes to the quarterfinals, everything is back to zero. All the losing and winning streaks are out of the window, everything’s new. Our only problem now is how to beat Converge twice.”
The Painters fell to the FiberXers, 103-96, less than a month ago in a game where Guiao got tossed after letting his emotions get the best of him.

“I’m really close with Delta (Pineda) and Dennis Uy but this is a different conversation.”
