MANILA, Philippines — Angge Alcantara relished her duel against her Adamson teammates as she led PLDT past Farm Fresh in the 2024-25 PVL All-Filipino Conference.
Alcantara shone with 12 excellent sets on top of four points against her former college teammates Louie Romero, Trisha Tubu, Rizza Cruz, Lorene Toring, and Aprylle Tagsip with PLDT eking out a 25-20, 25-17, 25-19 win over Farm Fresh on Tuesday at Philsports Arena.

“I’m just happy because it’s been a while since we all saw each other since we’ve been so busy. I’m also happy that I played well,” said Alcantara.
The No.8 overall pick of PLDT said there wasn’t any extra motivation going against her fellow ex-Lady Falcons, using her excitement to lead her team to back-to-back wins for an improved 6-3 record.

“I’m really excited to play against them, and I missed them too,” said Alcantara. “I just focused on the system, what needed to be done, and staying disciplined in everything.”
Alcantara has been steady as the High Speed Hitters’ main setter with Kim Fajardo still working her way to her top shape.
But she remains hungry for more improvement as she learns from Fajardo.
“I’m aware that I still have a lot to improve, especially my skills,” Alcantara said. “I think I need to work more on my decision-making, setting the ball properly for the spikers, and building better connections.”
“Every time she plays, I really observe what I can learn from her and apply what I see. I’m happy with that.”
Alcantara has a week to prepare against Best Setter Kyle Negrito and the Creamline Cool Smashers on February 15 at Ynares Center Antipolo.
