PVL: Benson Bocboc named Farm Fresh interim coach

MANILA, Philippines — Farm Fresh named Benson Bocboc as its interim coach ahead of the 2024-25 PVL All-Filipino Conference starting November 9 at Philsports Arena.

On Thursday, the Foxies wished the seasoned coach a happy birthday, announcing that he would call the shots on an interim basis for the young PVL club.

“Happy, happy birthday to Farm Fresh’s interim head coach Benson Bocboc! Thank you for your patience and hardwork, coach! We cannot wait to play and talk numbers with you this upcoming PVL All-Filipino Conference! LET’S GO!” wrote the team.

Bocboc was hired by Farm Fresh in the Reinforced Conference where he joined the coaching staff of Japanese coach Shota Sato.

Sato and the Japanese coaches already flew back home after Farm Fresh’s 0-4 Invitational Conference campaign, replacing Reinforced semifinalist PLDT after begging off.

Bocboc, recently named the new University of the Philippines women’s volleyball coach, will be handling a pro team anew since he called the shots for F2 Logistics in the 2022 season.

The Alas Pilipinas women’s volleyball assistant coach was on the La Salle Lady Spikers coaching staff of Ramil De Jesus from 2016 to 2024.

Bocboc will be banking on former La Salle stars Jolina Dela Cruz and Maicah Larroza as well as newcomers Rachel Anne Daquis and Jheck Dionela and mainstays Trisha Tubu, Louie Romero, Rizza Cruz, Alyssa Bertolano, and Ckyle Tagsip.

Farm Fresh also signed Alohi Robins-Hardy but her eligibility is up in the air.

Farm Fresh made a breakthrough quarterfinal appearance in the Reinforced Conference only to be eliminated by eventual finalist Akari.

Bocboc debuts on November 16 as Daquis and Dionela face their former team Cignal at Ynares Center Antipolo.
