MANILA, Philippines — Winning her first PVL title in front of boyfriend Dwight Ramos and her whole family, who rallied behind her through the ups and downs of her career, made the moment even more special for Kianna Dy.
Dy finished her story from being sidelined for almost two years due to a knee injury to celebrating a championship with PLDT after scoring 13 points in the PVL on Tour final in a five-set win over Chery Tiggo on Sunday night before 11,055 fans at Mall of Asia Arena.

“As an athlete, he understands what I’m going through so every time I would be negative, he would say stay patient and he would help me go through it. I’m happy that he understands also what I’m going through, so he helps me,” the fit-again opposite spiker told reporters.
Ramos, fresh from the Fiba Asia Cup campaign with Gilas Pilipinas in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, made sure not to miss Dy’s special moment.
“I’m just very happy for her and the team, PLDT. It’s their first time in the finals and first championship, so it’s a really good feeling for her,” said the B.League resident Filipino import, who arrived back in Japan on Tuesday.

Dy appreciated Ramos for his continuous support and for celebrating with her before rejoining his team, Levanga Hokkaido.
“Happy, of course, because Dwight is often here in the Philippines and I’m glad he was able to watch the finals. He’s actually leaving on Tuesday already. He wanted to watch the game,” she said.
