Chery Tiggo gained a headstart in the PVL All-Filipino Conference play-in tournament Pool B after pounding Nxled, 25-22, 26-24, 25-12, on Thursday at PhilSports Arena in Pasig City.

Smarting from four straight losses–including two from Choco Mucho at the end of the preliminary round and again in the qualifying round–the Crossovers finally got out of the hump knowing that this is their last chance to book a ticket to the quarterfinals.

“We also talked about making sure we have that killer instinct and confidence in our game so we can carry it into the next match. I saw that today, and I’m super proud of my teammates for playing so well,” she added.

“I’m so proud of our team because we can really see that everyone is fighting for everything we’ve worked hard for in training. And the effort of our coaches to teach us everything we need to do—it means so much,” Adorador said. “I’m really proud, and thank you, Lord.”

Chery Tiggo was challenged well by the Chameleons in the first two frames before refusing to lift its feet off the gas pedal in the third frame using a 7-0 run to leave Nxled in the dust, 21-10.

Chiara Permentilla scored from a kill from the back row for Nxled, which absorbed a fourth straight loss that put it on the brink of elimination, before Robles and Adorador took turns pushing Chery Tiggo forward.

Lycha Ebon scored off the block, the final point for the Chameleons, before Adorador responded with the same kill and Galang stopping Lucille Almonte’s attack for the win.

EJ Laure, facing her former team for the first time since joining Nxled, paced the Chameleons with 15 points while Permentilla finished with 12 points.

Chery Tiggo can secure its quarterfinal spot by winning its final Pool B assignment in Farm Fresh on March 11, something that Nxled will be betting against in hopes of staying alive.
