Chery Tiggo left no doubt about its playoff readiness, sweeping Nxled, 25-17, 25-15, 25-20, on Saturday at Philsports Arena to secure a semifinal berth in the PVL On Tour and a spot in the upcoming Invitational Conference.
The Crossovers controlled the match from the opening serve, pressuring the Chameleons on both offense and defense and sealing the one-hour, 25-minute win with a Mary Rhose Dapol attack.

Libero Karen Verdeflor stood out with 16 digs at a 55 percent efficiency rate, repeatedly turning back Nxled’s attacks. She added six receptions and credited the team’s discipline for the result.
“This win is a huge energy and confidence booster for us heading into the semifinals,” Verdeflor said. “We just follow the game plan of our coaches.”
Cess Robles paced Chery Tiggo with 12 points, while Ara Galang and Renee Peñafiel had 11 each, and Imee Hernandez added 10. The Crossovers outgunned Nxled in attacks, 50-33, had a 6-4 edge in blocks and limited themselves to 11 errors while scoring 15 points off their opponents’ miscues.
EJ Laure led Nxled with 13 points, and Jovelyn Fernandez scored 10. Rookie Lyann De Guzman was limited to six points after coming in midway through the second set.
Nxled, which had finished second in its pool in the preliminaries, never found its footing against Chery Tiggo’s net defense and floor coverage.
The Crossovers built a 15-9 attack edge and a 4-0 block advantage in the first set, kept control through a second frame highlighted by a long rally capped by a Jasmine Nabor spike, and closed out the third after pulling ahead 13-5.
The Crossovers, who advanced through a knockout win over Galeries Tower, will face Cignal in the semifinals.
