MANILA, Philippines–Creamline closed out Farm Fresh in straight sets, 25-19, 25-19, 26-24, to advance to the PVL on Tour semifinals on Saturday at Philsports Arena.
The Cool Smashers set the tone early with a 7-0 start and kept the Foxies chasing in the first two sets.
Farm Fresh fought back in the third, saving three match points behind Trisha Tubu, who blocked Alyssa Valdez and scored off the block to tie it at 24.
Michele Gumabao’s attack error briefly gave Farm Fresh the set point, but she answered with a down-the-line hit before Pangs Panaga sealed the win with an ace.
“We knew Farm Fresh would keep fighting. It was important for us to stay composed, especially in that third set,” said Gumabao, who finished with 15 points.
Alyssa Valdez scored 12 points, Jema Galanza 10, and Panaga seven. Setter Kyle Negrito, the Best Player of the Game, dished out 21 excellent sets and scored six points, including five aces.
Tubu led the Foxies with 20 points, while Caitlin Viray and Rizza Cruz chipped in nine and six.
“We’ve been working on our serves all conference, and it really helped us today,” Negrito said.
Creamline finished with a 10-4 edge in aces and a 38-35 advantage in attacks, with both teams recording four blocks.
The win marked Creamline’s 18th semifinal appearance in the PVL. The Cool Smashers will face PLDT in the next round.
