#Sona2025: Marcos orders PSC to open track ovals for public use

MANILA, Philippines — President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. said that starting on Monday, July 28, the Philippine Sports Commission will open its track and field ovals to the public for free.

“Starting today, the Philippine Sports Commission will open its track and field ovals in Pasig, Manila, and Baguio to the public, so you can jog there for free,” Marcos, speaking in Filipino, said in his fourth State of the Nation Address (Sona).

He made that remark in a bid to address the reported increase in weight among Filipino adults aged 20 and above.

Aside from that, Marcos also vowed full support for the country’s athletes.

“For example, the Palarong Pambansa and the Batang Pinoy Games, which will be held in General Santos City this October. We will establish a new national program for sports development, starting right at the school level,” he said in his speech. /mr
