MANILA, Philippines—Angel Canino showed she was feeling better than ever in La Salle’s latest win over rival Ateneo in the second round of the UAAP Season 87 women’s volleyball tournament.
The Lady Spikers swept the Blue Eagles on Wednesday behind the efforts of Canino as if the former MVP wasn’t rushed to the hospital following their win over University of Santo Tomas just three days ago.
“I’m doing really good and I’m feeling better now,” said Canino after their 25-21, 25-17, 25-20 win over the Blue Eagles.

“They already gave me a go signal and I just rested. Whatever needed to be done, I just followed.”
Canino finished with 16 points, following up her 27-point effort in a five-set victory over UST. Immediately after the game against the Golden Tigresses, Canino crumbled to the floor and had to be helped off the court after colliding with Shevana Laput in the fourth set.
Back to her old self, Canino praised La Salle’s offense, which also drew 14 from Shevana Laput and a combined 17 points from Amie Porvido and Katrina Del Castillo. Setter Mikole Reyes also had a solid game for La Salle with 19 excellent sets.
